Perfect Photosessions? Memphis Children’s Photographer
Perfect Photosesions? Memphis Children’s Photographer
Today’s blog post is going to reveal a truth. There are very few PERFECT things in life. In our minds, we like to plan everything out to the Nth degree. You know what I’m talking about. We start planning things out in our mind of how things will go, flow, and proceed on picture day.
It starts out with smiling children who wake up on time and in happy moods. No traffic happens on the perfect picture day. Hubby is happy and wife isn’t stressed. The clothes don’t wrinkle, and everyone’s hair is perfect (even our own). Humidity doesn’t kick in. It doesn’t rain. It’s not hot. Older children aren’t grumpy, and no one needs to be bribed on perfect picture day.
Does any of this sound familiar? Well, it sure does to me :). I had “Perfect Picture Day” with my own family this summer. The fog came; it was windy; the buildings were getting a paintjob. Shall I go on? Nothing.in.life.is.perfect.
Yet, we want our pictures to be perfect.
Here’s where I come in.
I want your pictures to be perfect, too. I strive to create that with all the “variables” that get in the way of hindering perfect picture day. I can’t help but laugh when I think of these kiddos. Here’s their story:
This family drove from Batesville, MS to have their children’s portraits taken with me. We’d never met each other before, so we had our introductions. We start off at the entrance to the Botanic Gardens. Right away, the younger daughter was not a happy camper. She needed a diaper change. She still wasn’t happy. Both parents are looking at me like, “I’m so sorry…I don’t know what’s wrong with my child.” In case you’re wondering…I get that look…a lot 🙂
We proceed to go further into the Gardens, and little sister starts FULL ON CRYING. At this point, mom and dad are looking at me like the whole session is a disaster. I feel horrible that Perfect Picture Day is ruined. Passers-by are looking at us like, “What in the world is going on over there?” I have somehow failed. But, I don’t give up. That’s not my nature.
At some point I realized, sweet little sister doesn’t like ANY GRASS. We find this great concrete walkway. Then…the tides change.
I received this e-mail after mom viewed the gallery: “We just got a chance to look at these and we absolutely LOVE them! So so cute!!!!! Glad you gave us a week b/c it’s going to be hard to decide which ones. 🙂 You did an amazing job! Thanks so much…”
All of our patience and persistence have paid off. I’m not a failure. Everyone is happy. And, you know what? Perfect Picture Day really did happen, with a few turns and twists. Sort of like…life 🙂
Blessings and Peace,
Cindy
